If you don't know you should. Fashion is happening in D.C., and things were white hot at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery for the Silk Road Society's Dress to Empress Soiree on Saturday night. Award-winning NYC designer Yeohlee Teng made D.C. the center of the universe with a fashion show seen only at the exclusive event, which also featured a presentation on the Empress Cixi, China's Lady Gaga.

Featured exhibitions are Power|Play: China's Empress Dowager and Family Matters: Portraits from the Qing Court. Now there's some really special genealogy behind those portraits, if you are interested.

Everyone was gaga over Host Committee Member and Sherman and Pickey's Lindsey Williams Drath in her sumptuous blue gown, modeled in an impromptu paparazzi moment. The flash wasn't just for Lindsey, as Tim and Michelle Howes enjoyed the adoration of their fans upon donning Chinese costumes, managing to keep that elaborate headdress intact.

Media was everywhere, old and new. Kate Howard, McClatchy, was speaking truth to the power of the Empress Dowager. Cid Szegedy, Senior Strategist, The Daily Caller, was the only individual portrait of the evening, but it was no conspiracy. Maybe Blacktie-DC just wanted to get things right.

We love all these bloggers, some of whom are getting pretty big. Miss A in 240 markets? Watch out Vogue, or maybe they're already passe. New girls Emily Hargrove, Capital Style, and Heather Neisworth, Senior Media Strategist, Foggy Bottom Beauty Examiner.com, marked their territory with a couple of glasses of wine.

Other museums represented included the National Museum of Women in the Arts's Elizabeth Keaney, Host Committee Member, who will be happy to educate us on their mission. Speaking of education,  Daisy Wang, Specialist, Chinese Art, gave such interesting presentations we want to go back for more Empress Dowager.

Yeohlee definitely deserves more. Take a minute, and think like she does. Yeohlee believes design comes from serving a function and is refined through time and process. Don't we all? Her designs are driven by material, maximizing the use of each fabric by thoughtful consideration of weight, texture, color, cut and finishing. She believes that "Clothes have magic. Their geometry forms shapes that can lend a wearer power."

Girl power! We're all over it.

The Fashion Group International of Greater Washington, DC, both sponsor and fashion show contributors, have plenty of power, and the magic Yeohlee aspires to create. No wonder their collaboration was so wonderful. Karin Cadena, Regional Director, deserves credit.

Not to be buggin' you with all these titles, but we just have to stick a pin in Vichai Malikul, Scientific Illustrator - "Painting Wondrous Wings", Chair, - NMNH/Asian Committee, Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History. Now that's an interesting job.

Deborah Robinson, Senior Communications Officer, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and her friend Pearline Waldrop, Visual Information Specialist, Smithsonian's Anacostia Museum, may have the most interesting jobs. Imagine just being around Bill and Melinda Gates, or better still, the likes of Blacktie-DC's favorite artist and philanthropist, David Driskell, honored at the Anacostia Museum's Annual Luncheon event in September.

We love Greg O'Neill, GregsListDC!  Besides Blacktie-DC, Greg does a bang up job covering events of all kinds. Nowhere to go? Know where to go!

Advisory Board and Host Committee members also included Lyz Bridgforth, Associate Director of Business Development, Office of Advancement at Georgetown University, Adam Ozmer, Advisory Board and Corporate Executive Board, Ceren Ozer, World Bank and Host Committee, and Sarah Reintjes, Advisory Board, and Development Manager at JDRF.

Dickinson Miller, friend of the Freer|Sackler, was proud to announce his wife's contribution to the evening's success. Katie Ziglar is the Director of External Affairs, Freer|Sackler, The Smithsonian's Museums of Asian Art.

We didn't notice until afterwards, but there was a Double Lubin in attendance. Emily Lubin, National Alliance for Caregiving, and Caroline Lubin, Constituent Engagement Coordinator, National Council on Aging. Marci Gallun of AAAS is featured in the Lubin photo.

Least we forget, Julie Kunen, Wildlife Conservation Society, was spotted with friends, and Justine Bello, Conservator, Conservation Solutions, posed with her husband, Michael.
